“Factory Reset”
Narrator: Joseph Dreyer (The Abandoned)
PRESENT DAY
My brothers have abandoned me. They took their first chance to leave. Now I am stuck here as dead weight in the old dead end factory.
Wake up! It’s time to punch the clock. Still twelve more hours ‘til I’m off. This is a loneliness I never thought I’d ever need to feel. I swear I had the grandest plans. I could’ve been a better man, but now I’m stuck here as a shell of who intended to be. Four more hours ‘til the winter. I never knew such a sweet town could leave me feeling bitter. If I could bring you back, I’d let you burn it down. We could escape this place together. Through rain or sunny weather, I’m with you.
Time’s up! I’ve been here for too long. I really wish I could’ve gone, but circumstances kept me suspended with zero chance to leave. My brothers have their better days. I need to find a goddamn way to leave this spinning clock behind and never come back here again. We approach the final hour. Oh what a shame, I hope my body is laden with flowers. Give me all the flowers.
The lead singer of punk band Camp Cope ventures into romantic synth-pop territory, tempering slick arrangements with bare sentiment.
