1. What’s His Name?
Narrator: Jack Langston, James Langston, Martha Boyd-Langston, Unknown
Jack:
What’s his name? Can we talk about this kid? I wanna know all the planning that you did. We’ll hit the gym and we’ll talk about the coming days. Perhaps a junior? You have such a handsome name.
James:
I won’t tell you which way the River flows tonight. I’m keeping my kings to my chest, you’ll be alright. If you wanna know his name, you will wait. It’s all the same.
Martha:
What’s her name? Can we gush over the coming princess? She will never want for anything, she’ll get her wishes. Let’s get some coffee and discuss the baby’s crib I’m buying. We’ll paint her room pink and yellow, with some rainbows flying.
James:
I won’t tell you which way the River flows tonight. I’m keeping my queens to my chest, you’ll be alright. If you wanna know her name, you will wait. It’s all the same.
Unknown:
Here’s a story for the birth of tomorrow.

2. Bloodwork and Ultrasounds
Narrator: Tonya Casey, James Langston
Tonya:
My love, I am terrified of tomorrow and what the days will bring. Tell me everything sweet. This year will be the longest year I’ve ever had to face. I feel like I’m stuck in a race. My mind has left without a trace. What if it all goes wrong? Tell me it’s all alright if you believe it. You must believe it. What if I fail this kid and my body shuts down? My love, I am looking forward to tomorrow. I am equal parts elated and so cautiously afraid. “Tell me that tomorrow will be better than today. If you have to lie, then lie. I just need to hear you say it...”
James:
My love, shut your mouth. You gotta know you’ll never be alone. We’re in this together. I will be your stone.

Narrator: James Langston
Let me tell you a not-so-secret secret: We’re gonna need a little more space to accommodate you kids. These walls are caving in. You’re all getting much too big. Let me give you a not-so-deadly bombshell: There’s one among you that you have yet to see. After December you will meet them. Merry late Christmas to you. There’s gonna be more of you, but you’ll always have your place in our home. You’ll always have your place in our hearts. There is no replacing you. There is no displacing you, my little loves. Let me tell you a not-so-secret secret: There’s gonna be changes around here, so let’s prepare for it now. We’re moving down the road to a big, pretty new house. Let me give you a not-so-subtle present: You get your own rooms for the first time next month. Help us paint the baby’s room. I promise it will be fun. Prepare for the coming changes. They’re for the better, I promise you’re gonna make it. No matter how big this family gets, you’re still my kids. I promise it.

I’m packing boxes up for you. You have one job, and it’s true, you are the best at what you do. Carry our baby near your heart. Since they are half of you, I know they’re an amazing work of art. We’re moving forward in life. On up we’re going, you’re brilliantly showing tonight. With this new house we declare a new chapter starting, my endlessly marvelous wife. I’m taking paintings off the wall. They will adorn the new bedrooms, and I’ll hang them in the halls. Please, let me take that off your hands. I will not let you lift a finger, love, I hope you understand. You have enough to carry, love.

5. I Will Never Abandon You
Narrator: James Langston
Like clockwork, as the sun is setting on our evening, your insecurities abound (I know the feeling). Think back to all the pain that made you who you are today. Reflect on the ghosts that made you keep your guard at play. I will never “punk out”. I will never fade. I will never make you wish you could go back to “better days”. Please believe me, I will never throw you to the wolves. I will always be with you. There’s nowhere else to go but here. Nowhere left to go but down, and I refuse to fall.

6. Earlier Than Holland
Narrator: James Langston
This is not a test. I can hardly catch my breath. I’m running faster than I’d recommend. Can this clock slow down as I make my way downtown? I’m desperately trying to make my way back to you. “Emergency?” I cannot read the signs through my foggy glasses. I’m so out of breath. Please, wait for me. I can’t bear to see my reflection if I miss this moment. I cannot miss this moment. I’ll make a scene if I cannot be by your side in this timeless moment. I can’t hardly wait. I see your eyes. It’s almost time to welcome our new love to this world. I will not miss this moment. “We’re almost there, love. Don’t release my hand.” I can see the light here at the end.

7. Kansas Evermore
Narrator: James Langston
Like a ghost, I’m left so speechless at your appearance. Can you see me through the tears that dot your eyes? You are so precious, as I expected. You are everything I wanted in this life. We’ll take you home. It’s the safest place you’ll know. Are you listening to me, baby love? I’ve grown so selfish for your affection. Will you bless me with your sweet kisses and hugs? “There’s no place like home. I’m dad, if you didn’t know. You’ll get to know me, very soon.” This is your room, all pink and blue (red and bright yellow too). You’re everything we ever wanted. We’re so lucky to have you. Like a premonition, this day plays out like I dreamed a million times. There is no reason to cry, baby love. Take comfort in my arms as I sing you all the songs. There is more where that came from.
