“Connecting Flights”
Narrator: Steve Matthews
Date: December 4th
I took the next plane out when your letter hit my mailbox. Debated with myself for half a minute… I can’t say “no” to you. Only you could drag me out of this comfort zone I’ve crafted. Get me to this new land, hope in hand and pride upon my chest. I’m in the air, searching and scanning. Wishing and wanting for this to be the last time I hunt you down. I’m in the air, searching for you. If it’s the last thing I do, until my last breath, I’ll see this through. I can’t help but take to the sky in pursuit of you, love. In pursuit of your love. I hailed the next cab out, straight to your return address. I hope this was not all in jest. You know, I can’t say “no” to you. I do not care if this makes me foolish. Without you, I’m useless. I have tried, and failed, to do this on my own. Who knew patience was a virtue? This nightmare ended when you were ready for it. All I had to do was wait for you to get on board. You know I’m all yours.
The lead singer of punk band Camp Cope ventures into romantic synth-pop territory, tempering slick arrangements with bare sentiment.
